NOSTALGIA (Continued)
Old Time Dancing
Does anyone remember the Old time dancing classes in the late forties or early fifties? They were held in the Village Hall, referred to locally as “The Mersey Tunnel”, situated on the right hand side of Church Lane, in thecorner of the airfield.
Our instructor was Mr Bagshaw who was extremely light on his feet and taught us numerous new steps. I cannot remember from where he came, except at weekends he and his wife stayed in a quite homely redundant hen house in Eddie Hague’s farmyard on Doncaster road. (Butler’s Farm). The Saturday night classes were well supported by all age groups and most enjoyable.
Those were the days!
