Foodbank

Holy Trinity and St Oswald’s church has been invited to help with the ‘Open Porch’ scheme run by the Trussell Trust foodbank. There are more and more people having to use foodbanks and the Trussell Trust provides food to people who, frankly, rely on them.

In brief – they have given the church a food basket – similar to those in supermarkets and we are asking the village if they would care to donate any of the items from the list below. They ask for long life items – not fresh produce. The church will be open for donations as follows:-

Every Sunday 8.30am to 11.00am.

Every Wednesday (during school term time) from 9.30am till 12.00 midday.

You do not HAVE to come into church to donate (unless you want to of course). The porch will be open – feel free to leave your donation there. We will transfer the food into the basket in church and get it to the foodbank.

The MAIN items they are short of are:-

  • Tinned soup
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • UHT Juice or Dilute Squash
  • Coffee
  • Cooking sauces – Pasta/Curry
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea
  • Chopped Tomatoes
  • Biscuits
  • Tinned Meat
  • Tinned Rice Pudding
  • Tinned Fish
  • Breakfast Cereals
  • Extras include washing up liquid, nappies, toilet roll and feminine hygiene products.

Please help if you can.
