Thinking about coming along for the first time? Here's a quick guide to what a Sunday with us looks like — so you can arrive knowing what to expect and feeling at home from the off.
A warm welcome at the door, a service sheet or hymn book put into your hand, and a place to sit (anywhere you like — there are no reserved pews… in fact there are no pews, we have chairs!). Services usually last about an hour. You're very welcome to simply sit and listen, or to join in — whichever feels right.
A few practical notes so you're not driving round in circles. At Holy Trinity & St Oswald's in Finningley you'll find space along Old Bawtry Road. Rectory Lane is a cul-de-sac and is tight for parking — we love our neighbours, so please ensure that everyone has access to their homes. At St Saviour's in Auckley there's parking in the church car park.
Anything is fine. Some people dress smartly, others come straight from a dog walk. Come as you are — what matters is that you're here.
Children are very welcome — wriggles, noise and all. There are books and activities at the back of church, and our family-friendly service Café 3:30 is designed especially with little ones in mind. Baby-changing facilities are also available.
Both churches are step-free at the main entrance, with accessible seating and toilets. Large-print orders of service are available — please just ask a sidesperson at the door. If you have particular needs, do get in touch ahead of your visit and we'll make sure everything's ready.
After every Sunday service we enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits… and sometimes cake! It's the best chance to say hello, ask questions, or just enjoy a cuppa. No pressure to stay, but you're very welcome to.
We offer a range, from traditional Holy Communion with hymns and liturgy, to First Sunday Focus (a shorter, reflective service), to relaxed family-friendly services like Café 3:30. If we were to describe ourselves as a radio station, then we're probably Radio 2 — something for everyone.
And if you're still nervous, just tell someone at the door it's your first time — we'll look out for you.
We'd love to hear from you before your visit if there's anything you'd like to ask. Have a look at our service times, or get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
